Orientation Week also known as O’Week for first-year students, recently hosted by The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall was a blast.
It consisted of five dynamic days designed to guide the students to acclimatise to the new environment, form lasting friendships and prepare academically for the year ahead.

Teboho Mahlatse Modiba, a first-year Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences in Application Development student said, “My O’Week experience was amazing. The most memorable days were the Wet and Wild and the Freshers Valentines Party.
“Wet and Wild stood out the most for me because I made new friends and we are all studying towards the same qualification. I feel a lot more comfortable starting my first year after O’Week because of the wonderful friends I have made and after the positive encouragement received from all the committee members who assisted during O’Week. I feel ready for 2025.”
Day two was the Academic Gear Up and The Student Experience event on campus, during which students met with The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall campus head, Avadhi Ghela; head of academic Ricardo Carvalho, faculty heads, and the student experience team. This event provided essential tools and insights for academic success, with opportunities to connect with the broader campus community.
During day three, students enjoyed thrilling water slides and relaxation when The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall, Sandton, IIE MSA, and IIE Vega Sandton collaborated, which resulted in more than 1000 students enjoying Wet and Wild at Mzansi Happy Island Theme Park.
Student Success 101 was the second last event of the week where information was shared by the information specialist, the IT team, EdTech, and the senior student relations specialist.
To conclude O’Week, students enjoyed an unforgettable End of O’Week Party at Madison Avenue Rivonia featuring DJ De Mthuda with two campus DJs, DJ TheBoyNelo and DJ Detoxic.
