Midrand duo launches Youtube-based entertainment group with big dreams
Mekaeel Haffajee and Wesley Moonsamy are creating their own lane with OutKast ENT, hoping to inspire young South Africans through entertainment.
A shared passion for music, content creation, and a desire to create something different has brought two Midrand creatives together to launch OutKast ENT.
The emerging YouTube-based entertainment group is aimed at giving audiences authentic and versatile content. Currently comprising Wesley Moonsamy and Carlswald-based Mekaeel Haffajee, OutKast ENT is built on a friendship that began almost eight years ago, after the pair connected through a WhatsApp group. “Over time, we developed a strong friendship and quickly discovered that we shared many of the same interests, particularly our passion for music and content creation,” said Haffajee.

“Since then, we have continued to work closely together, creating content, making music, and supporting each other’s growth. What started as a friendship has developed into a creative partnership that forms part of the foundation of OutKast ENT.”
For Haffajee, the idea behind OutKast ENT is deeply personal. “I’ve always felt rejected by a lot of projects and felt like I didn’t really fit into what everyone else was doing. Over time, I realised I didn’t want to follow the crowd; I wanted to create my own.”
That experience shaped the identity of OutKast ENT. “To me, OutKast represents people who feel like they don’t belong or don’t fit into the usual mould. I want our content to create a space where those people can feel included.”

The group plans to explore a wide range of formats, including comedy, challenges, music, skits, storytelling, gaming, interviews, and long-form entertainment. Haffajee believes this versatility could help the group establish a distinctive identity in South Africa’s increasingly competitive creator economy.
“YouTube has been a long-term ambition of mine since Grade 7. From a young age, I’ve always been drawn to creating content, entertaining people, and building something of my own.”
His ambition is backed by previous experience. Haffajee said he generated more than a million views during his first three years of creating content, but admitted that he initially lacked the knowledge to convert that reach into sustainable financial opportunities. That experience, he said, taught him that success in the digital space requires more than simply producing viral content. “I intend to approach the next stage differently, with a long-term vision that goes beyond personal success. Ultimately, I want to use the platform and opportunities I build to give back to the community and create opportunities for others.”

Although the idea of an entertainment group had been on his mind for years, he said he began seriously turning the concept into reality on August 1.
For Moonsamy, the launch represents an opportunity to grow his music career, while contributing to the group’s wider ambitions. “I’m excited for my music career and can’t wait to see what the future holds for my DJing and music. I’m looking forward to seeing OutKast ENT grow into a success and make an impact in South Africa and the world.”
