Midrand Police receive winter blankets from local NPO to share with orphanages ahead of winter

President of BRS NRI Nagaraju Gurrala said it is a proud moment for them to continue their tradition of community service of 25 years.

A local non-profit organisation, Bharat Rashtra Samithi Non-Resident Indian (BRS NRI) South Africa, donated a total of 84 blankets to the Midrand police as part of an annual initiative that the NPO runs to assist people in need, especially orphanages.

This happened on April 27 at the police station among notable attendees, including Miss World South Africa 2024 Zoalize Jansen Van Rensburg, her brother, Zarho, and BRS NRI president Nagaraju Gurrala.

“As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of BRS NRI, it is a proud moment for us to continue our tradition of community service. Every year, for the past six years, we have organised a winter blanket drive to support those in need, and this year is no exception. Through our partnership with SAPS Midrand, we ensure that the blankets reach the most distressed and needy individuals in our community. I sincerely thank all our supporters and SAPS Midrand, especially the brigadier and his team for their continuous collaboration,” said Gurrala.

Together, we continue to make a difference.” All 84 blankets were handed over to Lieutenant Colonel Jonas Malete.
