JMPD removes street dancers on Allandale and Pretorius roads

JMPD has been removing street dancers from intersections in Midrand and other areas due to safety concerns and violations of local by-laws.

During these operations, the belongings of the dancers, such as crates used for their performances, have been confiscated.

For instance, on June 16, the JMPD removed street dancers on Allandale and Pretorius roads in Midrand, and their crates were confiscated.

JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla confirmed the confiscation and stated, “As per the National Road Traffic Act, the City of Johannesburg Public Road and Miscellaneous By-Laws, and the safety aspects, pedestrians are only allowed to cross at an intersection, not to dance or loiter on the roadway.”
