Illegal dumping of building rubble and litter in President Park is spiralling out of
Midrand Reporter came across litter on the corner of Stag and Swart roads on October 17, along with building rubble piling up along Dale and Fouché streets.
Despite the Clean-Up President Park initiative, which was tackling litter, and calls by Ward 92 councillor Charmaine Ngoepe and Ward 110 councillor Angie Mphaho for the urgent need of a new dumpsite to curb this scourge, their pleas have not been heard.

In 2017, Pikitup closed the Dale Road Garden site, after it said it was using the site, but did not own it. The site was owned by a private company, which later demanded its land from Pikitup, which resulted in the closure of the site.
Following the closure, the entity said that according to the depot servicing the Midrand areas, indeed there is a noticeable increase in illegal dumping.
The paper contacted Pikitup spokesperson Muzi Mkhwanazi regarding the litter, and what the entity is planning on doing about it. Mkhwanazi’s response will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
