Illegal dumping spirals out of control in President Park, Pikitup mum
In light of the spate of illegal dumping in President Park, we contacted the Pikitup spokesperson to ask what they're planning on doing about it. Despite numerous reminders he has not replied.
Illegal dumping of building rubble and litter in President Park is spiralling out of control.
Midrand Reporter came across illegal litter on the corner of Stag and Swart roads in the suburb on October 17, and building rubble is also piling up along Dale and Fouché streets.
In light of this, we contacted Muzi Mkwhanazi, Pikitup spokesperson, on October 21 about plans to deal with the litter.

Mkhwanazi acknowledged the query on the same day, and was given a deadline of October 24, however, he did not respond to the query, despite further follow-ups on October 27 and 28.
In 2017, the waste collection entity closed the Dale Road Garden Site, after it said it was using the site, but did not own it. The site was owned by a private company, which demanded its land from Pikitup, which resulted in the closure of the site.
Following the closure, the depot servicing the Midrand areas noted that there was a noticeable increase in illegal dumping.

Despite the Clean-Up President Park initiative, which is tackling litter, and calls by Ward 92 councillor Charmaine Ngoepe and Ward 110 councillor Angie Mphaho for the urgent need for a new dumpsite to curb this scourge, their pleas have not been heard.
The closure of the Dale Road Garden Site has, obviously, perpetuated illegal dumping in President Park, the question is: What is Pikitup going to do about it?
Should Mkwhanazi respond, his response will be updated.
