BREAKING NEWS: A shooting incident in Midrand, two people reported dead

A drive-by shooting has been reported in Carlswald, in Midrand, and two people have allegedly been killed in suspected taxi-violence.

Unconfirmed reports suggest two people have been shot and killed in Carlswald, Midrand.

This happened today around 11:50 on the corner of New Road and Barbet Street.

According to an official in the security services: “Two guys appear to be dead in one of the cars. It appears to be taxi-related and all services are on scene.”

Another source said: “I’ve been hearing that allegedly there has been a drive-by shooting incident. Police and paramedics are on scene. It’s not clear how this occurred or the motive behind the incident.”

Gauteng Provincial JOC Alerts posted on their WhatsApp channel: “A crime scene has been reported at New Road and Barbet Street (near Builders Warehouse) in Carlswald, Midrand. Use alternate routes where necessary.”

Midrand police have been contacted, and their response will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
