During this operation, two vehicles, a taxi and a venture, were impounded near the Boulders taxi rank on Market Street, by officers from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department.

Mgcina said these vehicles obstructed traffic, had expired license discs, and their owners refused to take responsibility. “We are sending a clear message: Illegal activities and businesses operating outside the law will be shut down immediately. We also closed a brothel that was operating illegally.

We are committed to eradicating criminal elements that violate the safety and morality of our communities.”

She stated that a liquor-selling business was also shut down for severe noncompliance, including failure to adhere to zoning regulations and proper licensing requirements.
