Man’s body found in Rabie Ridge leads to arrest in Tembisa

Police tracked down a 21-year-old suspect in Tembisa after a 38-year-old Noordwyk man was allegedly hijacked, kidnapped and murdered, with the victim’s car and belongings recovered.

Police have arrested a 21-year-old male suspect in connection with the hijacking, kidnapping, and murder of a man whose body was discovered in Rabie Ridge on March 13.

The victim has been identified as a 38-year-old man from Noordwyk. Paramedics arrived at the scene and declared him dead. His body was subsequently taken to the Germiston mortuary.

According to police information, members of the Ekurhuleni Police Crime Intelligence, in collaboration with the EMPD Northern Region Task Team, tracked down and arrested the suspect in the UMthambeka section of Tembisa.

Authorities believe the suspect was driving the hijacked vehicle, a white Renault Sandero, belonging to the victim.

During the arrest, police reportedly found the suspect in possession of the victim’s driver’s licence, bank cards, and car keys. The hijacked vehicle was later recovered.

Ekurhuleni District Police spokesperson Captain Nelda Sekgobela confirmed that the victim’s body was found dumped near a scrapyard along Boshoff Road in Rabie Ridge, prompting an investigation.

“The incident occurred on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 7:30am on Boshoff Street in Rabie Ridge, near a cash-for-scrap business,” said Sekgobela.

“Police who attended the scene found an African male lying in a pool of blood on the ground. The deceased had sustained gunshot wounds to both the lower and upper body.”
