City’s aerobics programme touches down at Busy Corner Shisanyama

The eight-year-old City of Joburg aerobics programme made a lively stop at Ebony Park’s Busy Corner Shisanyama, continuing its mission to promote healthy living across Region A.

Residents of Ebony Park laced up their takkies and broke a sweat as the City of Johannesburg Region A Sport and Recreation aerobics programme made a vibrant stop at Busy Corner Imbizo Shisanyama on May 2.

An estimated 80 participants turned out for the high-energy session, reflecting growing community enthusiasm for the long-running initiative. The programme, which has been active for eight years, continues to attract residents not only from Ebony Park but also from neighbouring areas, including parts of Ekurhuleni, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Assistant director for sport and recreation in Region A, Mandla Mahlangu, praised the turnout and community commitment.

“About 80 active participants showed up, all pushing towards a sustainable, healthy lifestyle. It’s more than just exercise; it’s about creating a space for happiness, interaction, and family engagement. It’s also a great stress reliever,” he said.

Mahlangu said that the presence of participants from nearby Tembisa continues to boost the programme’s energy. He also highlighted growing interest from passersby, many of whom stop to watch and later join the sessions.
