According to Mantji, detectives from multiple units, including property crimes, commercial crimes, the serious and violent crime (SVC) unit, and general investigations, worked intensively to ensure cases were thoroughly investigated and successfully prosecuted.
“Midrand detectives worked tirelessly across different groups to investigate reported cases and profile suspects arrested. They even go the extra mile to gather more information to strengthen cases before the court.”
Among the convictions secured was a suspect found guilty of tampering with essential infrastructure, receiving a 15-year direct prison sentence, the harshest penalty handed down during the month.
Other notable sentences included seven years’ direct imprisonment for one suspect on a fraud case, and another suspect on a theft case. Another fraud-related offence resulted in a five-year sentence.

Additional convictions saw a housebreaking, theft, and possession of stolen property suspect sentenced to five years behind bars, while a separate theft case led to a four-year sentence. A suspect convicted of using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent was sentenced to two years’ direct imprisonment.
In smaller, but still significant cases, eight individuals were sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for shoplifting, while another housebreaking and theft suspect received a three-year prison term.
Mantji said the outcomes demonstrate the station’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring accountability, adding that continued co-operation between law enforcement units remains critical in maintaining safety in the Midrand community.
