Rabie Ridge police hunt suspect after triple murder and police shooting in Kanana

Rabie Ridge police have launched a massive search for a 38-year-old suspect accused of killing his girlfriend, her uncle, and a neighbour before opening fire on officers.

Police in Rabie Ridge have launched a manhunt for a 38-year-old suspect following a triple murder and the shooting of a police officer in Kanana Ext 4.

The incident occurred on April 17, shortly after 06:00. Ekurhuleni District Police spokesperson Captain Nelda Sekgobela confirmed the details. “Just after 06:00 in the morning, Rabie Ridge police responded to the scene of a triple murder, and three attempted murders in Kanana Ext 4.”

Sekgobela explained that the suspect, who is a security guard armed with a licensed firearm, allegedly went to his girlfriend’s home, where an argument broke out. “The duo had an argument, and the security officer shot and killed his 37-year-old girlfriend. On his way out of the house, he shot and killed the girlfriend’s uncle, and also shot and killed the neighbour.” Additionally, the girlfriend’s aunt was shot in the lower body and was taken to the hospital.

Following the incident, the suspect took the girlfriend’s eight-year-old child and fled the scene. “On the way, he met a Rabie Ridge police van and started shooting in the driver and crew’s direction. One female police officer sustained minor injuries to the upper body, and was taken to hospital.”

The suspect is still at large, and the police are appealing to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward.
