City departments unite for Rabie Ridge service push

Joining forces in Rabie Ridge, City departments took part in a multidisciplinary service delivery operation, targeting long-standing community concerns in Region A, with new acting regional director Macmillan Papi Telekoa attending in person.

City departments joined forces in Rabie Ridge on May 21 for a multidisciplinary service delivery operation aimed at addressing long-standing community concerns in Region A.

The operation was co-ordinated in response to issues raised by residents in the ward, and formed part of the city’s broader efforts to strengthen service delivery and improve living conditions in areas identified as needing urgent attention.

The meeting point for the operation was the Rabie Ridge hall, from where teams fanned out across the affected areas to carry out a range of interventions.

Residents welcomed the sight of various city departments working together on the ground, with many noting that visible action had been a long time coming.

Johannesburg Roads Agency cleaned kerb inlets to improve drainage systems in the area, while the area-based service unit team carried out street sweeping to boost cleanliness.

City Power also removed illegal electricity connections as part of efforts to improve public safety and protect infrastructure from damage.

Information gazebos were set up by several city departments and entities, including JRA, City Power, social development, the Ombudsman, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, and the IEC, giving residents a chance to access important information and municipal services in one place.

The new acting regional director, Macmillan Papi Telekoa, attended the operation in person to witness activities on the ground, inspect the affected areas, and listen to concerns raised by community members.

His presence sent a clear signal that the city was committed to ensuring that reported challenges were met with direct engagement and tangible action, rather than empty promises.
