Midrand Primary School learner gets his Baswa le Meetse prizes

Midrand Primary School Grade 7 learner Leatile Moeng who is doing Grade 7 achieved third place in the Baswa le Meetse Competition.

Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Judith Tshabalala visited Midrand Primary School on October 26 to hand over a trophy and prize money to the school learner who did exceptionally well in last year’s Baswa le Meetse competition.

Leatile Moeng in Grade 7 at the school achieved third place in the Baswa le Meetse (Youth in Water) Competition and won a bronze medal in the poster category, earning him a prize of R10 000 and an accolade.

The competition aims to recognise the achievements of young learners in promoting integrated water resource management, health and hygiene, and water use efficiency.

Midrand Primary School community celebrates as Leatile Moeng receives his Baswa le Meetse prize.

It has district, provincial, and national levels, and is intended to empower learners to become future water ambassadors and responsible citizens.

During her keynote address, Tshabalala emphasised the importance of conserving water and caring for this precious resource.

She urged the youth to participate in projects such as Baswa le Meetse, which not only recognises their efforts but also empowers them to become ambassadors of water conservation.

Teachers, learning area coordinators, and facilitators of arts and culture must encourage learners to participate in the Baswa le Meetse competition, as it provides a platform for learners to showcase their talents and encourages them to take an active role in water conservation.

Tshabalala congratulated the school and its teachers for providing platforms and encouraging learners to participate in such projects. She also applauded Leatile for his efforts and encouraged him to continue being a water ambassador.

Provincial winners are selected during the same school year, and these provincial winners are adjudicated nationally during the new school year.
