My son did well in his matric results, but I believe that if teachers put more effort in their work, South Africa would produce better grades.
A national average of 75.8 percent hides the fact that other children fail dismally. I hope parents and guardians will encourage their children who failed to rewrite matric and not give up. Parents also have a role to play in making sure that homework is done, not everything rests on the teachers.
We look forward to better passes through this new curriculum. Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga has tried to put her house in order, but a lot of work still needs to be done. Maths and science are still one of the worst subjects in South Africa, there is obviously a problem in the way they are taught and how our children are receiving it.
