Hell on Modderfontein Road

MIDRAND – Some taxi drivers still cause havoc on Midrand roads.

Sipho Nkosi, a resident of Midrand writes:

I drive on Modderfontein Road every morning and have always heard people complain about how taxi drivers speed, but I had never experienced it myself.

On 24 May, however, I drove on the same road, as usual, and out of the blue found myself sandwiched between two unrelenting taxis which were fighting it out to cut in front of me. I could not believe that these drivers did not care about causing an accident.

When the taxi drivers spotted a Metro police vehicle, they both somehow managed to force their way in quickly in front of me and behind me. I was shocked at how uncaring they were.

I know people say Metro police are not doing enough, but I think the problem is the attitude some taxi drivers have. They know that if caught, they will pay a fine and speed off again.
