She will now move to the junior ranks, from cadet, and fight in a heavier division, moving from 46kg to 48kg.

“I am happy to have won. I think, when I went to the championship, I expected to win, because I always want to make myself and my coach proud. More than anything, I think this win means solidifying my intentions to become a next big boxer in South Africa.”
She said she was excited to be moving from the 46kg to 48kg weight class, but expects it to be tougher. “I think the next division will be tough, but I am tougher. I want to go there to do my best, and get as much experience as I can.”

Her coach, Anthony McPherson said the tournament was a great success, and that they both learnt a lot. “I think there is a lot that we can implement to help Kate become the boxer that she is.

Kate has been amazing, through her hard work, dedication, discipline, and consistency. She deserves all the credit. She listens, applies all the instructions, and tries to implement. I told her to do what we trained for, and she did it to the best of her ability, hence she returned a champion once again.”
Next up, Kate faces a district fight, on November 22 in Ennerdale. “I am extremely proud of her. All her achievements are through her dedication. She is still unbeaten in two years.”
