Premier Padel Pretoria P2 Tournament launches in Waterfall City

Padel players, sponsors, and the community came together to celebrate padel at the launch of the Premium Padel Pretoria P2 Tournament.

The launch of the Premier Padel Pretoria P2 Tournament was held at Balwin Padel in Waterfall City.

The purpose of the launch, on May 5, was to invite padel players interested in taking part in the tournament later this year, from July 26 to August 2 at the SunBet Arena.

Vice President of Primedia Sport Tobie Badenhorst highlighted how big of an opportunity this is for the country and local padel players.

“I think it’s really exciting to see the padel community of South Africa able to stage the Premier Padel Pretoria P2 Tournament in the country. It forms part of the global circuit. It’s basically the formula one of the sport. There are 28 events, which are part of the global schedule, and now South Africa is a part of it.”

Organisers, partners, and members of the padel community came together to celebrate the country’s inclusion on the global padel calendar. During the launch, padel players learnt what being a part of this tournament could do for them, in terms of exposure and learning a new set of skills, competing with leading international players.

Adam van Harte, one of the padel players planning on entering, shared his thoughts on the experience of the launch, and what hosting the tournament could mean for players and sponsors.

“It’s electric. We have so many people who are excited about the sport and the tournament, and I think it’s a great opportunity for us, as players. Moreover, for investors and sponsors it’s incredible for them to see the dedication in the sport.”

The event put focus on how much the local community is growing into padel as a sport.
