Zuri Ntim-Frempong makes her mark in gymnastics at just 10

With multiple competitions and wins already behind her, young gymnast Zuri Ntim-Frempong is steadily rising to the top as she pursues her 2032 Olympic dream.

Zuri Ntim-Frempong, a learner at ESCA Wanderers Sports School, is setting the gymnastic world alight.

Recently, she gained national recognition after being named one of the winners of Sunlight’s #RaiseTheBarNextGen campaign, which celebrates young South Africans using their talents to inspire others.

Her winning entry showcased her exceptional gymnastics skills, discipline, and passion for the sport. To add a unique personal touch, she also incorporated rap into her performance, highlighting her creativity and versatility, which made her stand out among the other entries.

Her love for gymnastics began in 2020 after watching the sport, an experience that sparked an immediate interest and eventually grew into a serious commitment.

Since then, her routine has become highly structured, with training sessions lasting between three and five hours a day, six days a week.

That discipline has already produced results; last year she was crowned national champion at her level, marking her as one of the country’s upcoming young talents in gymnastics.

“I am currently in level 7, and I would love to see myself in level 8. I love seeing my growth in gymnastics because at first I used to be attended to and supervised a lot, and now I get to just do stuff on my own without a lot of supervision.”

“I want to keep improving every day; my dream is to represent South Africa and compete at the Olympics. I know it will take hard work, but I love gymnastics, and I am willing to work for it.”

Behind her progress is a strong support system made up of her school and family, with her mother always looking for opportunities to help the young athlete improve and grow.

Her father, Archie, said that although they initially had concerns about the demands of her training schedule, she has shown remarkable enthusiasm and often starts her day early to prepare for training.

He added that supporting your children plays a huge role in their success.
