The race, which will be sponsored by Chamberlain and Kyalami Corner shopping centre, is set to start at 06:30 and is expected to attract runners from across Gauteng for a morning of competitive racing and community spirit.

The club, which was formed in 1980, has built a strong reputation within the local running community by promoting fitness and an active lifestyle while providing opportunities for runners of all abilities to participate in organised road running events.

This year’s race will allow both seasoned athletes and recreational runners to enjoy scenic routes through Kyalami while testing their endurance.

Midrand Striders chairperson Tsenoli Tiheli said the club was looking forward to welcoming the running community to one of its most anticipated events.

“The Chamberlain Country Classic is more than just a race. It brings together runners, families and supporters to celebrate health, fitness and community spirit. We invite everyone, whether they are chasing a personal best or simply looking to enjoy a great morning outdoors, to be part of this special event.”

As a CGA-regulated race, participants can expect a professionally organised event conducted according to official road running standards.

Tiheli added that the race plays an important role in making sure that the club has something to look forward to other than the big marathons such as the Comrades or Two Oceans.

Participants can also look forward to a vibrant race-day atmosphere, with entertainment, refreshments, food stalls, medals for all finishers and prizes for top performers. The first 500 pre-entries in the 10km and 21km races will receive a complimentary event T-shirt.

The club also looks forward to continuing its support for the Diepsloot developmental runners by giving them running shoes after the race.

With more than four decades of history, Midrand Striders continues to play an important role in developing road running in the community by hosting such races.
