Campus Connect is not all glitz and glamour
Pearson Institute students to launch campus radio station.
The trend talk at the Pearson Institute in Midrand is that Campus Connect Radio (CCR), based on campus, is hosting auditions for all Pearson Institute students who aspire to be a part of the radio project, which is supported by the Pearson Institute of Higher Education.
But far from the perception that it’s all glamour and glitz – it’s pure hard work and diligence to make things happen, as witnessed by the four founding members who saw an opportunity to bridge the gap from the era of traditional media of newspapers on campus to new media technologies, which are more effective in today’s society.
Michael Mwase, general manager, Garreth Mtuwa, chief operations officer for events and campaigns, Tiffnay Lentoor, marketing director and Ross Holland, programmes director, who, as an effective working team, successfully overcame the major obstacles of visualising an idea into an actual project while managing the processes of engaging the students in being active players in the planning and execution of any change because their cooperation is essential.
With regards to the music, the entire theme is youth focused and their aim is to be diverse and cater to different cultural backgrounds.
The primary objective of CCR is to show how important student participation is on campuses and the students will be exposed to and gain experience in various functions of the station, including public relations, accounting, journalism, marketing, advertising and presenting.
Auditions will be held at the Pearson Institute of Higher Education Midrand campus at The Student Hub, 44 Alsatian Road from 23–27 October 2017.
CCR has received a licence agreement from Icasa and Copaso and the launch will take place in February, next year when students return from their holidays.
The board members of Campus Connect aim to make this project a success by growing the business and making it a platform to encourage students to take initiative and learn that one must make it happen.
