MIDRAND – The partnership between Ward 132 and the townships is important in their development.
The New Hope Church held its annual Christmas Party for the Sunday School children in Kaalfontein in Midrand.
More than 100 children were treated to receive gifts and a Christmas message from the church’s Pastor Paul Poopedi, who expressed his joy at the success of the Christmas party. “I am happy that we were able to bring joy to the children, especially at this time of the year. Our church has been hosting this Christmas party for the past eight years.”
Poopedi who has been serving the Kaalfontein community for the past 12 years, added that this party is only a small part of the work that the church is doing for the community.
“We hope that in the near future we will make improvements with this Christmas Party. We also have other functions throughout the year such as helping the elderly and those who are underprivileged.”
Twelve-year-old Praise Rasekgwalo, who is a member of the church said she is not only happy about gifts but is grateful to Pastor Poopedi for the heartfelt Christmas message.
Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe said Pastor Poopedi has become a house friend to her and her family.
“This partnership between Ward 132 and the townships is important in the development of the Tembisa and Ivory Park areas. The families need food and clothing.”
Deppe said since she became a councillor 12 years ago, she is grateful for the friendships and partnerships she has formed with the community and she hopes that the strong bond will continue for years to come.
