Midrand Kwaito artist Thebe Mogane plans to release a new album

MIDRAND – Thebe confirms that he has started working on his album's material, with official directors being Bruce Dope and Guffy.

Midrand’s very own Kwaito star, Thebe Mogane said while there were plans to launch a new album, he has decided to postpone its release.

The artist has worked consistently to release new music since the beginning of his career in 1995. From his own Bula Boot to features such as Monate Mpolaye, Mogane indeed knows how to keep his catchy hooks on people’s lips.

In a conversation with Midrand Reporter Mogane said, “I was supposed to do my own album, but with Covid-19 and the lockdown, I decided to put it on hold for next year, but I have started working on the material.

“I am working with Bruce Dope and Guffy, who are the official directors of the album, along with other young producers…The album will contain music sounds that I like. With this body of work I am not trying to get likes but rather do music that comes from the heart.”

Mogane added that his secret for keeping his sound fresh and relatable was to work with young artists.

He shared his insights on how the music industry had changed over the years. “Back then it was difficult to get your music out there. But one thing for sure was that through the selling of hard copy albums, it was easy in the sense that you would know the estimated numbers of people who have received your music through the albums sold.”

He added that when song’s were released now, they could be found on illegal music platforms.

The Lenyora hitmaker shared his advice for other musicians. “Let it be passion, learn to do things out of love. I always advise people that there are a lot of things one can do in the entertainment industry, do not just want to be a DJ or artist, there are other academic careers such as law or marketing for example.”

The Kwaito star concluded that he would be releasing two new songs before the end of November this year.
