Kola is ready to make a mark
MIDRAND – Reatile Koka aka Kola said that his new music was simply the soundtrack to doing what one loved.
Midrand-based artist, Reatile Koka, better known as Kola, is taking the music industry by storm, and doing it independently.
Koka, who is an instrumentalist and music producer, said that he started getting into the music scene in 2003 when he was 13 years old.
His drive then pushed him to want to do more. “I picked up the guitar at 17 years old. I then decided that this was what I really wanted to do, which was why I then studied music for two years. Since then I have never looked back, I have always been exploring and mastering the craft,” he said.
Koka said that his latest offering is a series of remixes – titled Kola Weather – inspired by his love for the sounds of the rhythm and blues, soul, and hip-hop.
He said he has fused genres through the discovery of his musical voice. “The beats and remixes are released on Soundcloud, available for everyone to check out. This music is simply the soundtrack to doing what you love, no filters needed, anybody can listen to it.”
He shared his plans for the future, “More music will be coming out, collaborations with other artists, as well as creations in the fields of art and design in the near future.”
