Miss Sparkle recognises aspiring models in a beauty pageants
Young aspiring models get recognised at the Miss Sparkle beauty pagents.
Miss Sparkle, a local beauty organisation, recently hosted a beauty pageant for aspiring young models at Ithuba Centre in Ivory Park on October 14.
The event catered to three divisions, with Bianca Banda (8) winning the queen junior crown, Kurhula Mokoena (14) receiving the queen crown for teenagers, and Dineo-Boitumelo Maila (18) being crowned the senior queen.
These young models not only demonstrated their catwalk skills during the competition but also gave back to their communities by making donations of essential items.
Ntombie Flatela (24), the founder and director of the organisation, said such events were vital for children as they provided opportunities to learn more about themselves and build connections and friendships.
“We aim to help young girls to never feel boxed in their environment nor be constrained by societal norms. We want young girls to dare to be different, to accept their uniqueness and difference without fear of what society might say or feel,” Flatela added.
In addition to the crowning of the queens and their princesses, the event also recognised the hard work that the models had put in. There were awards for role model of the year and influential model of the year in all divisions.
“We also recognised a parent, Dimakatso, mother of Xoliswa Mokoena who has been there since day one, not only for her child but for everyone.”
Flatela expressed her appreciation to everyone who showed up to support these aspiring models.
“I would also like to send out my heartfelt gratitude to two runners, Thando Lunyawo and Amanda Ngwenya for their invaluable contribution to the success of the event. I call on all potential sponsors or local businesses to sponsor our winners.”
