Afro-pop sensation from Crowthorne releases new single, Ayikho
Afro-pop sensation Zamo Dlamini says the single talks about relationships and friendships who do not give back same energy.
Versatile and multi-talented Afro-pop and Soul singer Zamo Dlamini says her single is receiving all the love it deserves.
Ayikho [It’s not there], which was released on July 26, has got tongues wagging as it captivates her followers and music lovers.
Speaking to the paper on August 22, the Swaziland-born Dlamini, currently in Crowthorne, said the single can be narrated in many ways, including not receiving the same energy you give from your partner.
She says growing up in Swaziland, what stands up the most is the people being rooted in their culture such as Umhlanga, where young girls are taught about preserving their virginity.
“The song is about getting your power back from relationships, friendships, or even families that are not giving the same energy as you give. You can contextualize it in so many ways, and for me it’s about being in a relationship with someone who does not reciprocate your efforts. And almost a month later since the release, the song has been well received while some are still warming up to it,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini (35) is not a new kid in the block, having been around the music industry since the tender age of just 15-years-young.

She was also part of the Gospel choir group, Joyous Celebration, from 2013 to 2017. In 2018, she released another album, Inhlanyelo [The Seed], which aims to plant a seed of love, hope, inspiration, and perseverance. “The second album is the one that served as an affirmation to my music journey,” she added.
Dlamini is also an actress, and runs a make-up business while serving motherly duties to her daughter.
She thanked her followers and said an EP was in the pipelines for next year.
