Gospel hip-hop artist takes over Mpumalanga’s music scene

Hanoch is a multi-award-winning hip-hop hip-hop artist with the aim to make the music genre popular in the province.

One of Mpumalanga’s very own Christian hip-hop musicians, Sandile Nyundu, stage name Hanoch, is leading the way in the music industry in this unique genre.

This singer and songwriter said his proudest moments are particularly when he received the Best of the Year Award at the Mpumalanga Hip-hop Music Awards and the Best Gospel Hip-hop Song Award at the Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards in 2023.

“I appreciate and am honoured to be recognised in my home province for a music genre that is not popular here. I am still amazed for just being nominated for the awards. Another highlight of my music career is making a song titled ‘Amandla’, featuring Qiniso Mabaso, which won me the award at the Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards,” he said.

“I am hoping 2024 will be as good as the last year was to me. I want my music to be played on TV and on radio so that gospel hip-hop music becomes popular. I know most artists in this genre who have given up because of a lack of support, especially on local multimedia platforms.”
