FC Sivutsa gets new coach

ABC Motsepe outfits, FC Sivutsa have acquired the services Tshegofatso Mashego as head coach for the current 2021/22 season.

The experienced Mashego takes over from Russel Molefe, who has guided the Nkomazi-based team to fruitful Nedbank Cup preliminary games.

FC Sivutsa, owned by business mogul Dr Edward Khoza, represented the province during the national play-offs hosted on home soil, but bowed out in the early stages of the competition.

The Nkomazi pride were guided by former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Innocent Mayoyo, who took them all the way to the play-offs.

Confirming the changes was the team’s spokesperson, Sam Nyalunga, who said their goal was to gain passage to the National First Division (NFD).

“We welcome the seasoned Mashego, whose birthplace is Mashishing in our beautiful Mpumalanga. He was head coach of the Free State-based Super Eagles FC when they got promoted to the NFD in the 2016/17 season. He continued as head coach through the 2017/18 season in the NFD league before he parted ways with the club.

Mashego boasts a long list of football clubs he played for during his heydays as a young man who loved soccer. He helped Tembisa Classic FC to gain promotion to the Premier Soccer League during the 2004/05 season. He also played for Jomo Cosmos and many other ABC Motsepe and NFD clubs,” said Nyalunga.

“Coach Mashego replaces Molefe, whose short stay with Sivutsa FC has been highlighted by constant wins in all the four matches played in the campaign to the Nedbank Cup last 32 stage. Only one match away for the club to be crowned a Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe club, to compete in the next level of the prestigious national cup tournament for the 2021/22 episode. For this, Sivutsa wishes Molefe all the best in his career as football coach,” added Nyalunga.
