Poachers fatally wounded in Manyeleti Nature Reserve

During the search, illegal firearm, ammunition and rhino poaching equipment that was found at the scene.

The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency apprehended two heavily armed poachers that were found at the Manyeleti Nature Reserve yesterday.

One was fatally injured while the other was admitted at the local hospital. This follows the tracks that were were located in the early hours of Saturday morning at the boundary of the nature reserve by the field rangers during their routine inspection.

Field Rangers in the Kruger National Park also located the same tracks along the S140. During the search, illegal firearm, ammunition and rhino poaching equipment that was found at the scene. An investigation is currently underway with the South African Police Services and no arrests have been made at this stage as one of the injured poachers is still recovering in hospital. As soon as the charges have been formally filed, the suspect will appear in court in due course.
