Women wage war against rapiists
Female community members raise concerns regarding alcohol and abuse against them by their male countrparts.

NEWSCOM – Alcohol is allegedly believed to be the main cause of leading a father to rape her six-year-old daughter which has raised serious concern to residents as women indicated that they are fed up with alcohol and female abuse that seems to be a normal part of life.
Women from different churches in the area and from surrounding areas, established an organisation called Amancusa which aims to pray for alcohol and drug abuse and no violence against women and children.
Ms Ntombo Vilane, the manager of the organization, said after the shocking incident, they realized that something must be done to fight such behaviour in the commuity. ”As women, we have realized that our kids are no longer safe in the community. We feel that we need to come together as women to pray and ask God to protect us and also to help men to respect women and learn to protect their children.
“We suspect that they are controlled by evil sprits because no ordinary persone can abuse his flesh and blood,“ said Vilane.
She added that another contributory factor to the increase in rape cases is the use of alcohol by young people and she said: “The majority of the people you find in taverns at night is the youth and what worries us is that girls are the ones who are at risk of being raped due to alcohol and those perpetrators who continues to rape and act as if nothing is wrong belong behind bars because it’s clear that they don’t belong in the community,“ she added.
Past Jabulane Skwambane from the Power of God Zion Church told Mpumalanga News that we are livining in difficult times where the young are not behaving in a good way, but through prayer the world can be a better place. “We need to take it all to God since we are living in difficult times. Young people are involved in substance abuse and at the end of the day they end up doing bad things in the community,” he said.
Amancusa is the second organization this year who have raised such concerns about terrible incidents that occur continuosly in our communities. In May this year, representatives of the Nguni Cluster of the Mother’s Union of the Anglican Church from different places such as Swaziland and KwaZulu-Natal. They were gathered at Nutting House lodge called upon by government to ensure that women and children are also protected and deal with culprits and called for the institution of a life sentence for perpetrators as women are robbed of their dignity.
All this spelled outcomes after the country was on the spot light due to different incidents of women being abused such as the gang rape and murder of a 17-year-old Anene Booysen in February, the raping of a 79-year-old old helpless woman in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal which was a disgrace to humanity and despicable to our culture and also the brutal attack of 49-year-old Esther Maage outside a shop in Limpopo by a security personnel, with a teenage girl watching and laughing which is defined as one of the worst attacks for a woman at her age.
