Shoprite Checkers boerwors finalists on October 5
After five months of boereworsmakers went through three elimination rounds and 400 judges tasted more than 51 000 pieces of boerewors, the day has come when the new Boerewors Champion will be chosen.

The 10 finalists that will compete in the final round of this year’s Shoprite
Checkers Championship Boerewors competition were announced on Saturday,
September 14.
88 of the country’s best boerewors-makers battled it out on in
the provincial rounds of the Championship Boerewors competition.
And now finally, after a period of 5 months during which more than 1000 boereworsmakers went through three elimination rounds, and 400 judges tasted more than 51 000 pieces of boerewors, the day has come when the new Boerewors Champion will be chosen.
The 10 finalists will be travelling to Sun City for the much
anticipated grand finalé that takes place in the Valley of Waves on
October 5 where the winner will drive away with a brand new Toyota Hilux 2.7
Double Cab Raised Body Raider and the much sought after 2013 Boerewors crown!
Winners of the provincial rounds each walk away with R2000 Checkers or Shoprite
meat vouchers and gift hampers from Coca-Cola, All Gold and Simba.

Top food experts from the South African Chefs Association (SACA)
will act as official judges during the final round at Sun City to ensure that
only the best of the best is selected as the 2013 Championship Boerewors.
The winning 2013 Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors will also receive the
South African Chefs Association’s stamp of approval, to ensure that the
ingredients for South Africa’s best loved boerewors are of the highest
quality.
The country’s many loyal boerewors lovers can meanwhile start
preparing for yet another taste sensation, because the winning boerewors recipe
will hit the shelves of Checkers, Checkers Hyper and Shoprite stores
countrywide, on October 11.
