Seven killed and others injured during a taxi accident

A taxi and Suv X trailer accident left seven death and seven seriously injured on Friday morning between Pienaar and Airport road.

KARINO – At least seven people died and seven others are in a critical condition
after a mini-bus collided with an SUV X Trail earlier today (Friday) between
Karino and Kruger-Mpumalanga International Airport.

According to the community safety, security and liaison’s Mr Musi Moeti, the mini bus was coming from the direction of Piennar towards Nelspruit, collided with the X Trail travelling towards the Airport in the early hours.
“It’s still not clear what happened exactly, but what we can confirm so far, is that seven people died on the scene. Two of those are the occupants of the SUV X Trail and five taxi passengers. Seven other passengers have been rushed to the nearby hospitals,” said Moeti.
The MEC for this department, Mr Vusi Shongwe urged motorists to be vigilant on the road at all times.
“It’s going to be a busy weekend and we therefore would like to plead with motorists to be always careful on the road.
Our law enforcement agencies will be deployed throughout the whole
weekend to ensure that motorists uphold the rules of the road.
“We would also
like to send our deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones
here today and also wish those in hospital a speedy recovery,” said Shongwe.
