NELSPRUIT – Police are on a manhunt for three awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from lawful custody at the Middelburg police cells on Tuesday night.
The escapees smashed the glass in the visiting room, then cut off the security burglar gate and escaped.
The details of the fugitives are as follows:
• Mduduzi Nkosi (34) arrested for a series of crimes ranging from robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder and other serious offences.
•Simphiwe Ngobeni (33) for possession of stolen property.
•Lucky Thabang Mnisi (21) for theft.
An internal probe is underway to determine the circumstances which led to the escape.
