Government announces local mourning centres

Community halls in all municipalities will be used as mourning centres over the next 10 days.

NELSPRUIT – Mourners in Mpumalanga’s capital will be able to pay their last respects to late president Nelson Mandela in the Civic Centre over the coming days.

Mr Madala Masuku, MEC of finance, officially announced on behalf of the provincial government this afternoon that community halls in all municipalities will be used for this purpose over the next 10 days.

In Mbombela, The KaNyamazane, Matsulu and Manzini halls will be open for people wishing to drop off cards or flowers or other memento’s in honour of the late former leader of the ruling party.

Each hall will also have a condolence register in which mourners can write messages. Maskuku gave his assurances that these would all be handed over to the appropriate people.

In Thaba Chweu Municipality, mourners can vist the town halls in Lydenburg, Sabie and Graskop as well as the Reroro Community Hall.

The Marite Community Hall, Mirriam Mokgakane Hall, Margareth Hall, Mhlanga Hall and Mkhuhlu Community Hall will be used in Buskbuckridge Municipality.

In Nkomazi Muncipality, the Kamhlushwa, Schoemansdal, Masibekela and Dludluma halls will be used.

The Umjindi Community Hall, Town Council Hall and Captiville Hall will be in official use.
