Executive mayor of Ehlanzeni sends condolences to the Mandela family, all South Africans and peace loving people across the globe on behalf of the people of die district.

NELSPRUIT – The executive mayor of Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Clr Letta Shongwe, sent a message of condolence on the passing on of former president Nelson Mandela.

“The world learnt with sadness about the passing on of the former State President, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela last night,” she said. “We could not hold back our tears but allow ourselves to join the millions of South Africans and all other peace loving people all over the world as we mourn the painful departure of a soul we so adored.

“As we mourn the loss of a departed soul, we are also reminded to join in the queue in celebrating a life well spent. A life spent in the struggle for the liberation of humanity, particularly South Africans both black and white.

“A life spent building bridges to bringing together a nation which was characterized by segregation and apathy. I am pleased to be joining the millions of people across the globe in celebrating the life of an icon.

“Allow me to take this opportunity to also remind every one of us to uphold the principles that Madiba stood for. He has been the best father to his family, the best leader this country ever produced and still remains a symbol of hope, peace, unity and freedom to all of us.

“I am, on behalf of the people of Ehlanzeni taking this opportunity to pass my condolences to the Mandela family, all South Africans and peace loving people across the globe. It is not yet Uhuru, May the Madiba legacy live on.

“Rest in peace Tata, may there be peace, unity and love all over the world.”
