Health MEC welcomes newborns in style

"I would like to congratulate all of you for giving birth to healthy new babies, this is a very precious gift to start a year with and you must be good examples to other women."

MBOMBELA – The MEC for health and social development, Ms Candith Mashego-Dlamini has visited Rob’s Ferreira hospital in the capital city and Themba hospital at Kabokweni to welcome the New Year babies in style.

At this stage, a total number of new born babies stand at 130, a statistic complied from different hospitals in Mpumalanga.

According to recent stats, 68 boys and 62 girls were born between December 31 and January 01.

The first baby girl was delivered at the Witbank hospital at 00: 30.The New Year babies are sharing their birth day with the MEC for this department, Mashego–Dlamini.

Speaking to the new mothers, Mashego-Dlamini emphasised that they must be good parents to their babies because having a child is a blessing from God.

“I would like to congratulate all of you for giving birth to healthy new babies, this is a very precious gift to start a year with and you must be good examples to other women.

Give your children all the love that they need and deserve as children,” she said.

She added that she felt very honoured to share her birthday with the new babies. “It’s a privilege for me to know that I’m celebrating my big day with 130 new born babies in the province and that is why I am welcoming them with these precious gifts I have brought along with me,”she concluded.

Mshego-Dlamini was then joined by the Mbombela executive mayor, Cllr Cathy Dlamini at the Rob Ferreira hospital where together they welcomed some more new babies.

Speaking to this reporter, Ms Conelia Bhanda one of the new mothers said, “When everyone was celebrating the crossing over to 2014 I was celebrating the arrival of my baby boy.

God has answered my prayers, because it was my biggest wish to give birth on the first day New Year and I have named him Nkosingiphile (a gift from God).“
