Police on the lookout for ATM blasters

Security guards held at gunpoint while suspects blast an ATM.

WITBANK- Mpumalanga police are looking for suspects who blasted an FNB Automated Teller Machine (ATM) inside Sasol filling station at Klipfontein in Witbank on Thursday morning.

According to police information the unknown number of suspects allegedly accosted two security guards who were on duty in a shop near the filling station, held them at gunpoint and forced them to the ground.

They grabbed their hand radio and a cellphones then kept them on guard being watched by one of them (suspects) while the other suspects proceeded to the filling station where they also held the staff at gunpoint, planted the explosives to the ATM and blasted it.

“After their unlawful act, the suspects fled the scene in a grey / charcoal BMW with an undisclosed amount of cash,” reds a media release.
