Deceased’s family comes forward to claim corpse

Families have finally come forward to claim their daughter's body .

PIENAAR – The family members of the woman who was brutally murdered after she had allegedly been raped, have finally come forward to claim her body. Tears flowed endlessly as they converged at the local police station.

This comes after Mpumalanga News had published an article on January 16 about the woman’s body that has been found in an advanced state of decomposition, with a scar on her neck and a stick in her private parts and mouth.

Spokesperson for the local police station, Sgt Jabu Ndubane said, “After this shocking incident was published, the family came forward and identified the body and the parents had confirmed that it was their child.

The challenge we faced was that we couldn’t manage to conduct the post-mortem because the body was already in a state of decay as we have reported before.” Ndubande said that records indicated the deceased was mentally challenged and physically disabled.

This violent incident was also condemned by the MEC for safety and security, Vusi Shongwe, “I’m not happy about what is going on in Pienaar and surrounding areas. Women are killed brutally.

It looks like the place is turning out to be a no-go area for women and I’m not going to tolerate that.” He also emphasised that this year his department, police and other security agencies need to revisit the area while on the other hand, residents want Shongwe to deploy Amaberets.
