Victim cries while giving testimony

After seeing that the victim was overwhelmed by emotions and sobbing, the court then proceeded in camera.

NELSPRUIT – A 54-year-old woman recently cried in Nelspruit Regional Court while testifying on the terrible experiences she went through while kidnapped by a 31-year-old man.

She told the court how they drove to a certain spot and how the suspect told her to get out of her vehicle, and he also got out. He then pushed a firearm on her shoulders and forced her towards an isolated area in the  bushes and allegedly told her to undress.

After seeing that the victim was overwhelmed by emotions and sobbing, the court then proceeded in camera. The victim is one of the many women who were raped by Nhlanhla Malope who is facing 12 charges of rape, attempted rape, two kidnappings, two hijackings, assault, one sexual assault, a charge of pointing with a firearm and two armed robberies.
Evidence brought in court revealed that the accused would at times wore security guard’s uniforms near the stop sign where he would immediately point his female victims with a firearm and then kidnap them in their cars. The victim was hijacked at a stop sign by Nhlanhla Malope on 19 February 2012 at about 17:30 when she was driving from her place of work around Dwaleni.
Another victim was hijacked on March 5, 2012 when she was coming from Price ‘n Pride where she worked.

He allegedly kept the second victim naked in her car ‘s boot for the whole night and when he was about to rape her she told her that she was HIV positive.

He allegedly told her that her God saved her with the virus and didn’t raped her.

This matter will contiune on March 5.
