CLAU CLAU – A case of an alleged rapist has been postponed to March 26 in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court.

Mr Patrick Mkhonto (35) is facing two counts of rape that took place in the area in the past five days. It’s reported that Mkhonto used cunning tricks to get the women’s attention.

His games came to light after the local police station received two rape cases with the same trends.

Upon investigation it was revealed that the suspect would call his victims and promise them jobs. He would then arrange a meeting to take the victims to the bush and rape them.

His arrest follows after one of the victims spoke to someone who was very close to Mkhonto after which the community members blew the whistle and called the police.

Speaking to this publication, spokesperson of KaBokweni Police Station, Capt Shelly

Ngomane, indicated they needed to investigate how the suspect managed to gain the personal details or contacts of the women. “At this stage, we are not sure how he managed to get the information of the victims. One of the women said when Mkhonto called her, he introduced himself as one of her church members and pretended to offer her a job,” explained Ngomane.
