Premier urges all to show respect to fallen by voting
Mabuza said the best honour and respect that can be given to those who died while fighting for freedom and equality, is by voting the ANC back into power.
NELSPRUIT – Observing and honouring the annual Human Rights Day, the premier David Mabuza has urged everyone to honour the spirit of freedom fighters and human rights’ activists who had lost their lives, by voting in the upcoming elections.
Mabuza who also broadcast this message on Ligwalagwala FM, said the best honour and respect that can be given to those who died while fighting for freedom and equality, is by voting the ANC back into power.
“It is not a secret that this party is the only organisation that fought for the equality, freedom and human rights we duly enjoy today.
“It is befitting that when we go to the polls, we must vote for the party that truly cares and was prepared from the very beginning to die for the people and their freedom,” he said.
“It would be a great insult to Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Oliver Tambo, Steve Biko, Chris Hani and many other struggling heroes and heroines who laid down their lives for us to be where we are today if we do not educate our children and always remind them of where and how these rights came about. So, let us all go out and vote right,” he stressed.
He said the country and this province in particularly is a better place that is economically prosperous, non-sexist, non-racial, and democratic and upholds human rights.
