Call for CPSI awards entries

The Centre for Public Service Innovation(CPSI) in partnership with the Mpumalanga Office of the Premier will launch the call for entries for the 12th Annual CPSI Public Sector Innovation Awards.

MBOMBELA – The Centre for Public Service Innovation(CPSI) in partnership with the Mpumalanga Office of the Premier will launch the call for entries for the 12th Annual CPSI Public Sector Innovation Awards to be held at Ingwenyama Lodge on the June 2014 12 at 10:00 am.

The Annual Public Sector Innovation Awards programme is part of the CPSI’s official mandate. The Awards programme is a strategic tool to promote best practices in innovation and to celebrate successes of individuals and teams across the three spheres of government.

The CPSI is an institution in the Ministry of Public Service and Administration mandated to identify, support, nurture, test and pilot innovative solutions in the public sector with a view to improve service delivery.

The role of the CPSI is primarily to function as an enabler, facilitator and champion for innovative ideas. This requires creating an enabling environment for generating and rewarding new ideas; facilitating engagement between public, private and non-governmental entities with a view to establishing sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships and championing the value and need for innovation within the public sector.

The call for entries for 2014 Annual Public Sector Innovation Awards programme is an official invitation for Public Sector institutions to submit their innovative projects.

Entry projects should fall within one of the designated categories:

· Innovative Partnerships for Service delivery (i.e. between government institutions, private sector and government; CBO/NGO and government)

· Innovative use of ICTs for effective service delivery

· Innovative Service Delivery Institutions (i.e. schools, hospitals, clinics, courts, police stations)

· Innovative Enhancements of Internal Systems of Government

Winners from the four categories will compete for the coveted Public Sector Innovator of the Year Award.

The awards programme also serves as an important gateway for entry into prestigious international awards programmes such as the United Nations (UN) Awards, Common Wealth Association for Public Administration & Management (CAPAM) International Innovation Awards, the All Africa Public Sector Innovation Awards (AAPSIA) and the Africa Association for Public Administration Management (AAPAM) Awards.
