Illegal connections to be removed

"Currently we are instally pipes which show that we are moving in a positive direction in terms of improving service delivery "

KABOKWENI – Residents of Thembelihle and Mhlumeni sections, which are well known for illegal connections of water and electricity, are now crying out against this rampant act which endangers their lives.

According to them a 42-year-old man of Mhlumeni was electrocuted while members of the community were watching.

Recently Mpumalanga News learnt that after izinyokanyoka claimed lives, the authorities have finally come to the rescue as a project is underway to eliminate all illegal connections.

This move has satisfied many residents. Cllr Stanley Nobela says,

“Currently we are installing pipes which show that we are moving in a positive direction in terms of improving service delivery. From there, we are going to wait for Eskom to appoint a contractor that will be introduced to the community.
That’s when we will start to employ local people.”
He also appealed to the community, “I’d like you to show unity and work with the contractor by disconnecting all illegal connections so that everything will go smoothly,” he said.
