Mbombela Local Municipality, through its Arts and Culture Section is currently hosting a workshop on painting portraits with emphasis to Madiba, for young and upcoming artists from Mbombela to equip them with skills.
“We want to unleash the amazing talent our young people possess. The workshop caters for all people in the Mbombela region. I urge them to come through and experience this magnificent artistic beauty,” said Interim Curator, Ms Marietjie Henning.
The workshop is said to be the build-up for the main exhibition to be held in December this year in commemoration of the late Icon’s departure.
“December marks a significant period to South Africans, the period in which we lost our Tata. We want to go ahead and celebrate his life, hence the portraits will be centred on his face,” added Henning.
The workshop, which started yesterday at the Mbombela Art Gallery, will run today until 16:00, and tomorrow until 12:00. All artists and aspiring artists are advised to make their way there.
