Mpumalanga’s very own RnB sensation, Wandile Moya, has the stage set for him to spread his wings and fly even higher. Known to his fans as Afro’traction, he has been nominated in four categories of the Metro FM Music Awards.

He is up for best music video, best RnB single (“Angeke”), best African-pop album (For the Lovers) and best male album.

“It’s amazing for such great platforms to recognise my work like that. I’m really thrilled about this and I hope we bag one if not all of them,” he says.

Originally of KaBokweni, he feels he is the only RnB artist who is doing justice to promote the siSwati culture through beautiful love songs.

“For me this is growth in its enormous sense. I feel like I am doing great justice in promoting the language and passing on the messages about love in the content.”

Having collaborated with artists such as Maliq and Kabomo, the album, For the Lovers, is indeed a masterpiece and its success is evidently inevitable.

Idols SA winner 2013, Musa Sukwene has also been nominated for the best new artist award for his album, The Dream, in the Metro FM Music Awards.

MEC for culture, sport and recreation, Norah Mahlangu-Mabena has jumped on the bandwagon and called on the people of the province to vote for these local artists.

“The nomination of Afro’traction and Musa comes hot on the heels of a stellar period in which artists from Mpumalanga have held their own on the national stage.

”The awards are an opportunity to stamp our authority in the industry,” said Mahlangu-Mabena.

“Afro’traction and Musa are flying the provincial flag high in the entertainment industry with soulful tracks, which have received a lot of airplay on radio stations. They are the sons of the soil and they must get backing from the province.

Government and civil society can move the arts in Mpumalanga forward by voting for them,” she added.

You can vote for Afro’traction and Musa in their respective categories by doing the following:

Dial *120*588# for all the categories and choose option 1 for best African- pop album, option 2 for best video, and option 3 for best RnB single and option 9 for best male artist.
