KAMAQHEKEZA – A 65-year-old Pedro Chicago, known as DR Tinkarosi, from Mozambique was arrested by Tonga Police for possession of illicit drugs on Sunday at KaMaqhekeza.

According to Tonga police, crime intelligence has been following the information about a bogus doctor with no qualifications. When they arrived on the scene, they found him in possession of different kinds of medication, in the form of pills, injections, thermometers and etc.

The suspect was arrested on the spot and a case of possession illicit drugs (illegal medicine and medication instrument) was opened.

“We are investigating other crimes that might have been committed by Chicago and he is to appear in the local magistrate court soon. We also appeal to the community to be aware of people who pretend to be something they are not and they must consult only to doctors that are registered and well known.

We call on all those that used to consult to Dr Tinkaro to come and report to the Police station as it is not known how he got the medication and how the medication could affect them,” said Tonga Spokesperson, Lt Mzwandile Nyambi.
