MBOMBELA- The MEC of Community Safety Security and Liaison has send words of condolences to the family and relatives of the late Provincial Commissioner,Lt Gen Mhlabunzima Eric Nkabinde who was buried on Saturday at Stella Wood Cemetery behind Umlazi SAPS.
Shongwe says although he has not worked directly with Nkabinde, he has seen how the crime situation stabilized in the province when Nkabinde took office in 2000.
The MEC applauded the former Commissioner for the role he played in the fight against crime not only in the province but the country as a whole.
He said that Nkabinde was an embodiment of a true police leader, who understood no crime should go unpunished by pursuing crime suspects with all the energy that he had. He added that the former Commissioner worked with great dedication in pursuance of safety and security for all people.
“We are sending our profound and sincerest condolences to the Nkabinde family and we trust God will give them strength in this difficult moment,” he said.
According to SAPS website the General will be remembered for his humility, work ethic and passion for others mostly in the South African Police Service.
He leaves behind his wife Thembekile Ruth Nkabinde and his eleven children after suffering a short illness.
