Taxi association requests prayers for Easter holidays

Just days before one of the busiest Christian holidays, Easter, members of the Top Star Taxi Association have requested peace, tolerance on the roads and prayers from religious groups.

MBOMBELA – Just days before one of the busiest Christian holidays, Easter, members of the Top Star Taxi Association have requested peace, tolerance on the roads and prayers from religious groups.

This came shortly after yet another accident involving a taxi claimed the lives of five people.

Speaking to a member and driver of the Top Star Taxi Association, Big Five Mavuso used this platform to appeal to faith groups in the province to pray for them during these busiest days ahead.

He also appealed to all the various taxi associations, especially those at the Mbombela Taxi Rank.

“This is one of the busiest times on the calendar of Christians and most of them use public transport to travel to their different destinations. It is for this reason that we want to appeal to all different religious leaders in the province to keep us in their prayers.

“Because we understand that we are a diverse community with different cultural and religious beliefs, we want to also appeal to traditional practitioners to help fight the evil spirits on our roads,” appealed Mavuso.

The Easter holidays were celebrated mostly by Christians such as the largest church in Africa, the ZCC members, who travel to Moria in Polokwane to commemorate the historic death and rise of Jesus Christ as documented in the Holy Scriptures.

Sadly, these holidays were also notoriously known for making its presence felt by claiming lives of many on the roads, which had prompted the taxi fraternity to look for divine intervention.

Mavuso also appealed to motorists and especially his fellow drivers in the taxi industry to always abide by the road rules and respect traffic officials.

“It’s important that we keep to the speed limit and also respect one another on the road. We want to also appeal to our clients, the passengers, to respect and give drivers space to execute their duties safely and in a professional manner,” concluded Mavuso.
