Preparation for World Taekwando Championship underway

The Nelspruit Taekwando club has changed their training system, fighters are doing cross nights in bushes as part of preparing themselves to cope under difficult situations.

NELSPRUIT–Mpumalanga News learnt that this is part and parcel of the preparations for the selection of a team that will represent South Africa in the 11th World Taekwando Championship that will be held in July in England.

Speaking to the instructor of the team, Mr Job Magagula he said the selection process will be held in Pretoria as he went on:

“My team is hungry for gold medals and we are determined to put South Africa on the map since for the past few years we have been performing very well. We scooped numerous gold, silver and bronze medals on different competitions including provincial and national level competitions ”.

Even though Magagula is the instructor of the team, he would be part of the fighters that will take part in the world championship and is more than confident that he will repeat what he did in 2013 during the 10th World Taekwando Championship that was held in Coventry City in England where he put Mpumalanga on the map after he walked away with a bronze medal.

This publication also learnt that his victory came after he competed with 3 000 fighters from 60 countries.

”This time around I am going to bring a gold medal home. I am aware that it’s not going to be an easy journey for me, but I see that my fighting skills have improved from where I was in 2013,“ he concluded.
