Zwelisha invites you to the movies

He said that a lack of funding and equipment were limiting them.

ZWELISHA – Young people of this area, who fell in love with the filming industry, are more than ready to take their talent to the next level.

Mpumalanga News learnt that Stick Film Production will host a stage theatre and cinema on Saturday at Ekuphumuleni Rest in Christ Church where they will be showcasing their Kasi movies.

Speaking to a member of the production company, Mr Teenage Mhlanga, he stated that hosting such an event was part of promoting their work and their mother tongue (siSwati) which is not well recognised in this industry.

“We have been here for a while, but it’s difficult to take our work to another level since we don’t have sponsors.

I believe that hosting this event will attract a lot of people, including business people, and at the same time, we will promote siSwati,” said Mhlanga.

He said that a lack of funding and equipment were limiting them.
“Such projects in the community play a very crucial role in giving young people direction in life and keeping them busy because some of them end up indulging in substance abuse and girls fall pregnant at a young age.

“If our local business people can come forward and assist us financially, it will be easy for us to approach other channels such as Mzansi Magic because it focuses mainly on promoting local movies,” he said.

To ensure that their talent doesn’t fade due to a lack of sponsors, currently each member of the group has to contribute money so that they can continue to produce movies.
